1. Key Characteristics
• Purity: Extremely high, typically 99.5% minimum.
• Appearance: White to off-white, odorless, tasteless, and free-flowing fibrous or granular powder.
• Solubility: Easily soluble in both cold and hot water, forming a clear, viscous, and neutral solution. It is insoluble in organic solvents.
• Functionality: Acts as a binder for tablets, a thickener for oral syrups/suspensions, a stabilizer for emulsions, and a disintegrant to help pills dissolve properly.
