A high-purity, natural galactomannan hydrocolloid derived from the ground endosperm of the guar plant (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba). Unlike industrial grades, the pharma grade is strictly processed to meet international pharmacopoeia standards (such as USP/NF or EP/BP).

Primary Pharmaceutical Functions
1. Binder and Disintegrant
In tablet manufacturing, it acts as a powerful natural binder. Paradoxically, it also serves as a disintegrant; when the tablet reaches the stomach, the guar gum absorbs water, swells rapidly, and breaks the tablet apart to release the active medicine.
2. Controlled-Release Agent
Because of its high viscosity, it is used in "Sustained Release" (SR) or "Extended Release" (ER) formulations. It creates a thick gel layer around the pill, slowing down the rate at which the medication dissolves into the bloodstream.
3. Viscosity Modifier and Thickener
In liquid medications (syrups and suspensions), it prevents the active ingredients from settling at the bottom, ensuring a uniform dose every time the bottle is shaken.
4. Gelling and Stabilizing Agent
Used in topical applications like creams and ointments to maintain texture and prevent the oil and water phases from separating.
